Kenny and I went to a coffee shop in Whistler to warm up and get some hot drinks when suddenly I saw her. There wasn’t enough space to take a shot, and I had less than a second to remember this moment on film.

I fell in love with her look. Feelings of warmth and pain simultaneously merged into her beauty. That day was dedicated to the memory of the Women’s Memorial March in Vancouver—a significant day for lots of people.

Everyone thinks about something different. It was her facial expressions that intrigued me at that moment. Yet, after capturing the shot, I chose to let it remain a mystery and moved forward, leaving her thoughts untold.

On the way to the supermarket, I met with an artist passionately sketching the Deloitte Summit amidst the cityscape of downtown Vancouver. Sometimes we do what we can’t help but do, and I greatly admire individuals who draw inspiration from what they do for a living. Her work inspired her, definitely.

I was captivated by her figure but not her body. She seemed self-confident and, at the same time, with an easy attitude to life. The sunshine on her face enhanced her genuine smile. She liked the feeling of being in the frame.

I saw her walking towards me. It seemed that if I hadn’t moved aside, she would’ve crashed into me. Therefore, I had a couple of seconds to step away, turn on the camera, and take a photo of her original style with many small details.

Give me at least a couple of reasons why such a massive bunch of keys should be in your hand walking your neighborhood streets. In my childhood, it was a convenient self-defense tool against thieves, freaks, and other threats.

She wasn’t pleased when I took her picture. Also, she asked why I did that, and I replied that I was captivated by the way in which she crossed the road, reminiscent of a scene from a Tarantino film. She looked at me confused and asked me not to do it again. Politely, I smiled, offered my apologies, and wished her a pleasant day.

As a child, I held a deep admiration for kung fu movies. This elderly gentleman resembled Pai Mei, a memorable character from the film “Fist of the White Lotus.” It brought me immense joy to capture this shot, allowing my imagination to take flight as if I were directing a captivating scene in a kung fu film.

It was a random shot. The case is when you take out the camera to aim and accidentally press the trigger. Photographing a person so close that he heard a shutter click was an exciting feeling. Usually, I try to be invisible to people I photograph. What made it even more intriguing was that we spent 30 minutes together without exchanging explanations.
